It’s been a while since I’ve blogged. Sorry, it’s been a crazy year and lots has happened.
I’m on holiday in Melbourne at the moment, technically it’s day 1, I’ve been here 24 hours. It’s been interesting so far and I’ll add photos later, for now here is a simple recollection of the first day.
I arrived yesterday at 5pm local time at the YHA, after walking all the way through the CBD with my heavy pack - not the time for ‘fitting in’ as I have aimed to do since. The YHA is really nice and I’m sharing a room. Last night there were 3 other people, I met one and never saw the other two. All of them had left by this morning. I went for a walk to get dinner and wasn’t feeling very adventurous so it ended up being Nandos just down the road. Then I remembered 7/11 here sells Krispy Kremes (not available at all in Perth) and so I found one of those and went back to the hostel with my donut.
I technically ‘slept in’ this morning, but my body clock is on Perth time so really it was only 8am to me, but 11am actually. I decided to head out to Melbourne Uni and then ended up going to North Carlton- I walked all the way there because I was too timid to go and figure out the tram system. I had breakfast/lunch at a patisserie which was pretty average but food nonetheless. Then went into a lovely little op shop and ended up buying some pants. I was complimented on my outfit by the lovely hipster shop assistant - I feel like I’m achieving something in life! I then went to a newsagent and asked how to work out the trams, I have a Myki Card.
I had some really good coffee at AB Espresso, just happened across it and noticed the lovely Synesso machine. The atmosphere was really open and friendly, as was the barista. The coffee was excellent and less that $4! With my newly found tram knowledge I went back to the Museum and laid in the park for a while before walking back to the hostel. There was a new lady in my room and we had a chat. She was lovely and I think about 70. She should be here most of the week and so it will be nice to spend time with her, we discussed semantics and had word-y discussions. I like her.
So now I must go and find somewhere to eat and then tonight will be quiet I assume, just reading a book. The time alone has been so peaceful and I haven’t had a problem, other than my lack of knowledge of the area. It shall improve over the next few days I’m sure.

Now, this gif always annoys me, because it shows up on my dash with comments like “omg this is the sexiest thing eva” and “men in suits hhhHHH” which is fair enough.
But this gif is a very poor example of a sexily suited man. His jacket is extremely ill fitted, as if it were made for a man four sizes up from him. His tie is crooked, too tight, and mis-lengthened. His shirt’s collar is the wrong size for him, and the way he buttons it makes it look as if he’s never done it before.
Here, ladies and gents, is how it is done.
‘JOHN THE FLOOR IS LAVA. JAWWWWN. LAVAAA.’
‘that’s nice Sherlock’
When you look at a photo and think to yourself ‘I wish I had that outfit!’, remember that you are unique and an individual!
Your style should reflect who you are, not what you saw on somebody else or in a catalogue. Yes, take inspiration from what you see, and perhaps you will track down those shoes or skirt or that must-have necklace, but remember to style those pieces with things that make your outfit personal. Be you!
There is a difference between an inspiration and aspiration. Let others be your inspiration and not your aspiration!

1.an inspiring or animating action or influence: I cannot write poetry without inspiration.
2.something inspired, as an idea.
3.a result of inspired activity.
Sorry I have been a little M.I.A lately! But with summer holidays and all, I’ve been pretty busy and travelling.
But here is a collection of some of the things I have been doing, and the outfits I have been wearing.
1) New Years Day was spent wearing the gorgeous blue Princess Polly dress
2) I believe that it is always acceptable to mix similar patterns. As I have the florals
3) Wearing jeans and long top and boots when it’s almost 40 degrees was not clever comfortability wise. However, I loved that outfit!
4) Boxing Day I wore a my new favourite mint shoes, along with a floaty skirt
5) Just a little bush walk in the summer heat wearing denim with lace details and boots. Beautiful, even if the weather was almost unbearable!
6) Beach times require a cute patterned cotton dress and, of course, a nice hat
7) Reading by the pool, relaxing in the shade is my most favourite holiday past time!
8) New Years Eve was spent on the beach with a tasty beverage. My favourite summer drink: Cranberry Juice and Lemonade
I do hope everyone had a wonderful festive season and has had a happy beginning to 2013!
